Happy new year!
Welcome back—I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! It’s hard to believe that the 2018-2019 school year is half over already.
Be sure and mark your calendars for the annual Trailwood auction coming up on Saturday, February 23! Not only is it always a fun night spent connecting with others from our Trailwood community, but it is also the main fundraiser that allows our children to enjoy all the programs that the PTA sponsors throughout the year. Be watching for more information and don’t miss it!!
Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday, January 8 from 6:30-8 pm. We’ll have Rep. Stephanie Clayton and Rep. Jan Kessinger joining us for an update on legislative items impacting our schools! We’d love to see you there.
Heather McClure, PTA president
What does our state legislature have to do with your life and your school? A lot! Come out to our evening PTA meeting to hear from Rep. Stephanie Clayton and Rep. Jan Kessinger, on January 8 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. A new session will be starting in Topeka the following week so there will be a lot to discuss when it comes to funding schools, taking care of our awesome teachers, school safety and more. You'll want to hear how our new governor and changes in the legislature, including the loss of a number of moderates in Johnson County, will affect the agenda. Mark your calendars and plan to come out! Child care is provided (as always). See you there!

Ruben and Gracie's entries will move to the district-wide competition this spring. Congratulations Reuben and Grace!
PTA will be collecting new and used board games throughout the month of January for all the Trailwood classrooms (kindergarten-6th). Board games are a great way to increase academic skills in math and reading, improve strategic thinking, enhance social-emotional skills and so much more!
We want to help replenish the teachers’ supplies, so the kids have several options during indoor recess. Clean out your game closet, hit the thrift shops and look for games at the stores! Please make sure that all game pieces are included and all parts are functioning. Place the games in the blue bin in the foyer of the parent entrance. Questions? Contact Kim Whitman at email@example.com
Happy new year everyone!

FYI...Just a friendly heads up that we do play and explore lots of items and materials that can be a possible chocking hazard for children younger than 3.
The auction will be here before we know it! Hopefully your calendars are marked for this great event on Saturday, February 23. Our theme this year Paris of the Plains and the event again will be held at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Museum.
One of the most lucrative donations for our PTA is spring parties which are hosted by our wonderful, generous parents. Below are the parties we will be selling tickets for at this year’s auction. If you have an interest in hosting and/or co-hosting one of these parties, please let Andrea Krasnow or Brandy Dietz know by Friday, January 11th.
Other Ideas welcome, please let us know!

Hello Trailwood Families!
Our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year will take place on February 23, 2019! If you are looking for a way to contribute to this event, please consider having your company or place of business be an auction sponsor!
Being an auction sponsor is a win-win! Your company gets awesome exposure and recognition both during and after the event, and our school receives important funding for field trips, teacher stipends, and so much more! We have different levels of sponsorship from which to choose, so hopefully there is something that fits your company’s wishes. Trailwood Elementary PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all gifts are tax deductible. What a great way to showcase your business to our amazing Trailwood community!
We have attached our new sponsorship levels page for you to review and determine if one might work for your company. And, if you know of an area business that we should contact, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We are happy to reach out to those who might be interested in learning more about this opportunity to give back to our school!
Thank you for your consideration and for your support of the Trailwood auction! Please let us know if you have any questions.
