Tracy Hugunin2020-21 President
Born and raised in Overland Park, my husband and I both attended Indian Woods and graduated from Shawnee Mission South. It has been such a privilege to serve on Exec Board as Corresponding Secretary, Ways and Means, and now President. The strong sense of community has been overwhelmingly amazing the seven years we have been here at Trailwood. Our oldest, Carter is in his last year of elementary school and our daughter Marlee is in 4th grade. We are so thankful to be a part of the Trailwood family! |

This is my 24th year in the Shawnee Mission School District. I taught 4th and 5th grades for 11 years at Crestview Elementary in the North area of SMSD. Before coming to Trailwood, I was the principal at Rosehill Elementary, another South area school, for six years. I am now in my seventh year as Trailwood principal, and I am proud and honored to serve this school and be part of its history of excellence. My wife, Michelle (Sinclair), and her siblings attended Trailwood in the 70’s and 80’s. The Trailwood community was strong then, and that strength and sense of community connection sustains today. My two oldest children have graduated from Shawnee Mission East and attend KU. My youngest son is an 8th grader at Indian Hills Middle School. |

Trailwood Elementary is such a special place! My family and I have loved being part of this supportive and giving community over the years. We have a 4th grader and a 1st grader currently at Trailwood and a preschooler at home (who can't wait to be a Thunderbird soon)! We have truly enjoyed the many opportunities for involvement at the school; Trailwood definitely has something for everyone! We have made so many wonderful memories throughout our time here, and we look forward to many more to come. |

I am a mom of three and I work part time for a home energy efficiency company. I am also a licensed massage therapist but I am not currently practicing massage due to COVID. My husband, JR, and I grew up in Topeka but we have lived in the KC area since 2009. We have a 7th grader, Fiona, a 4th grader, James and a 2nd grader, Elias. All three of my kids have been Thunderbirds. We came to Trailwood when Fiona, was in 2nd grade in 2015. The boys have been thunderbirds from the start. The community at Trailwood is amazing, you can’t beat it. It feels like a giant family whenever you are in the building or at a Trailwood event. The teachers care so much about our kids and want to see them do their best! I serve on the PTA board because I want to do my part to keep the environment the way it is, so all families feel welcome. |

I grew up in Kansas City and went to Loretto (now KC Academy). I am a long time Trailwood mom and PTA parent. My boys, Antonio, Alejandro and Javier, started at Trailwood in 2000. The Diaz family has so many awesome memories from those years at Trailwood. The school has been the foundation for our strong, giving community. It brings us all together for a common good. I have always been so proud of the staff and parents for supporting all the kids with the best possible education. It is so fun to be back with my niece, Chloe and make new memories with her generation too. Trailwood is a great place to make friends and be part of a wonderful community. Go Thunderbirds! |

I have two former and one active Trailwood Thunderbirds: Emma (Freshman at South), Evan (7th Grade Indian Woods) and Liam (3rd Grade, Combe). My wife, Liz, is a Traiwood alum from years ago so it could be personal testimony to the impact TW has had in our lifetime. We have been Trailwood parents since 2011 when Emma was in kindergarten. My career over the last 20+ years has been focused on business and finance working in the investment management field. |

This area has always been home to me! My husband Adam and I both graduated from Shawnee Mission South...nothing greater than a raider! I love that Trailwood has such a long history of being a fun, supportive community. My family and I are so happy to be Thunderbirds! |

I am fortunate to say my family is second generation at Trailwood. My husband Adam and his siblings attended and his mother was a special education teacher with her office in Trailwood. Our children Rachel and Adam loved their time at the “old” Trailwood. I began volunteering in the library and classrooms and when my kids graduated onto Indian Woods I remained. I love each day at Trailwood where I get to spend my time with incredible students, parents, teachers, staff and administrators as the school secretary for the last 16 years! We truly are one big Thunderbird family! |
