Hello Trailwood! Our largest and most important fundraiser is just weeks away – Saturday, February 23rd! Our dedicated auction volunteers have been working diligently to put on a great event that provides funding for next year’s budget and puts the FUN in FUNdraiser! Your support of the PTA and this event directly impacts your child’s education. Trailwood PTA aims to provide students and staff with experiences and capabilities beyond the norm, and we have been so fortunate to be able to provide that thus far with huge member support. More money means more things PTA can say “Yes” to! You’re always welcome at PTA meetings (the next one is Tuesday, Feb. 12th at 8:15 am) and all members have a voice in how funds are used. What does Trailwood's Auction do for your child?$17,000 - Field Trips & Cultural Arts Programs $4,425 - Teacher Stipends $3,700 - Educational Software Licensing $4,625 - Student Activities (i.e. room parties, student awards, choir, field day, mathletics, OWLS) $4,650 - Family Support and Outreach/Events (i.e. Ice Cream Social, Welcome Back Coffees, Moms & Muffins/Dads & Donuts, Holiday Coffee, Science Night, etc.) $2,850 - Staff Appreciation (i.e. Back-to-School Breakfast, Monthly Events, Fall & Spring Luncheons, Holiday Cookies, etc.) AND SO MUCH MORE!! Please plan to attend the Auction to support the PTA so we can continue to provide these experiences for our kids and families as well as support the wonderful Trailwood staff! And if that wasn’t reason enough—spend an evening connecting with fellow Trailwood parents!! Go Thunderbirds! Heather McClure, PTA president hmcclure1436@gmail.com

Gov. Laura Kelly Inaugurated Kansas’s new governor, Laura Kelly, was inaugurated in January. She has stated that she plans to prioritize a strong public education system and has already created a new Governor’s Council on Education by Executive Order. Her proposed budget includes $92 million for education. Articles of Interest Thank you to all of the volunteers to help to bring food for the Chiefs day staff luncheon in January. The teachers were very appreciative. Trailwood’s Annual Open House is coming quickly on March 5th and we still need a Committee Chair to pull off this event! Our school thrives because of the involvement of our parents and we need a volunteer. Can you help? Please contact Heather McClure (hmcclure1436@gmail.com) to volunteer. Pre-K enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year will be on Tuesday, February 19th between 8:30-3. Please refer all questions for enrollment to Shereen North. We'll listen to a a few books about love/kindness, learn how to cut out some hearts, make some love potion and eat a snack made with love! Also, If you don't see a future thunderbirds name/email on my guest list...please let me know and be sure to invite them to RSVP! -Mrs.Victoria Savich and Mrs. Lindsey Guillen FYI...Just a friendly heads up that we do play and explore lots of items and materials that can be a possible chocking hazard for children younger than 3. Those little box tops don't seem like much but Trailwood has earned over $14,000 from box tops over the years! Click here for a list of participating products. Then just clip and bring them to the office by Feb. 9. Check to make sure they haven't expired. Labeled sets of 50 are preferred but it's fine to drop off just a few. We collected enough box tops to earn $315 last fall. Not bad, but we can do better! Consider asking neighbors or extended family if they have any to share. There are more easy ways for you to help Trailwood earn money from box tops as well. Go to BTFE.COM/EARN to learn about the Box Tops Bonus App and special promotions. If you have questions, please email Kellie Harvey, kelliesharvey@gmail.com Thank you! |
