Fall is party-central at Trailwood. We hope you’ve been enjoying the grade-level Happy Hours. There’s still time to attend our school-wide fall fundraiser - the Trailwood Games on Saturday, October 6th. Come to battle or just enjoy watching others fight for victory! All proceeds go to the Mini-Grants fund. If your child has ever been pumped for scooter day in PE, balanced on a wobble stool or been challenged by Breakout Curriculum, they’ve experienced the benefits of the Mini-Grants program.
Follow the newsletter link at trailwoodpta.com to purchase tickets to The Games and to see the many other things happening at Trailwood in the next month.

Trailwood has a wonderful opportunity to provide sock kits for the homeless in partnership with ScrapsKC. Scraps KC is a non-profit that offers ways for everyone to participate in caring for the homeless in Kansas City. We are currently collecting items for the sock kits and then our kids will actually pack the kits at the Halloween class parties on October 31st. We hope to provide over 350 kits for ScrapsKC to hand out to the homeless. Below is a list of items that ScrapsKC would like for us to include in the sock kits. We designated a certain item for each grade levelin order to ensure a mix of donations. We will need each child to bring in 10 of their assigned item to ensure we have enough for all of our kids to participate. Please place your donations in the bin located in the foyer of the parent entry of the school by October 24th.
Thank you in advance for your donations! If you want to learn more about ScrapsKC, check out their website:
If you have any questions, please contact Kim Whitman email@example.com
Through T-Birds Serve, Trailwood Elementary PTA hopes to create a community of compassionate children through engagement and involvement in humanitarian service projects related to aiding, clothing and feeding those in need. We want to help children understand the importance of giving to others and we hope that they will continue to give as adults.
Most of you are familiar with the Box Tops program which brings in money for our school. Our goal is to raise $1000 this year!
All you need to do is drop off your Box Tops in the office by Oct. 11. Please make sure they have not expired. If you have a lot of them, bundling or bagging them in labeled sets of 50 would be helpful. There will be another collection period in February.
You can sign up online to earn bonus Box Tops and earn even more money for Trailwood! Check out the attached flyer for more information.
If you have questions, please email Kellie Harvey, firstname.lastname@example.org
We have a dining partner with McLain's on Tuesday October 16th from 4:00-6:00. Please mention Trailwood at checkout and McLain's will donate a portion of the sales back to the Trailwood PTA.

We are looking forward to having a fa"BOO"lous time!

Election Day is Around The Corner!
Election Day is November 6 and this is a huge election for public education. You'll be voting for Kansas Governor and your representative in the Kansas State House, which allocate state funds to public schools like Trailwood. You'll also be voting for Member of Congress, County Commission and more! The PTA as a nonprofit organization does not endorse candidates, although we encourage you to be as informed as possible. There are several education-focused groups, including Education First Shawnee Mission, Stand Up Blue Valley and the Kansas National Education Association (KNEA), who do endorse candidates that they believe will support public education in Kansas.
There are several opportunities to meet and hear directly from candidates before election day at candidate forums.
