Hello Thunderbirds! November already? How did that happen?! Well here we are in the month of gratitude and I am sure grateful for this community. A special thanks to our room parent coordinator Megan Sornson and all the room parents that pulled off fantastic Halloween parties yesterday! What a festive afternoon for our kids! Days like that just wouldn’t be possible without amazing teamwork. We have some really special events this month like our first T-Bird Serve event of the year and a long time favorite week around here; Book Fair! Let the holiday season fun begin! If you’d like to hear Mr. Lawrence’s principal report, a budget update and the latest planning details of our auction, join us at our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, November 12th at 8:15am. Did you know that every year is an election year? This year, most Trailwood families will vote for two positions on our Board of Education. All Shawnee Mission families will vote for the at-large position currently held by Brad Stratton, who is running unopposed. Those families living in the South Area will vote for a new member, choosing between Brian Brown and Jessica Hembree. PTA does not endorse candidates but encourages everyone to to vote with PTA priorities in mind on Nov. 5.
Candidate Q&A The Shawnee Mission Post has published a series of questions and answers from school board candidates. Read up before you vote. T-Birds Serve: Personal Care Bags for Foster Kids Nov. 5, 6:30-7:30pm Commons area at Trailwood Join us as we serve the Kansas City community together... kids are never too little to serve! This event will start at 6:30 p.m. with a message from a representative from Cornerstones of Care. Then, we'll have our event which should take each family about 30 minutes. We are partnering with Cornerstones of Care to provide toiletries/supplies that will be handed out to foster youth and homeless teens who come to their new Homeroom Health center. You'll grab your ziplock bag and make your way through to collect an item from each section. Stop at the table to draw a sweet note for the recipient of your bag! Then, you'll be on your way.
