![]() Each year, the PTA wishes our Trailwood staff happy holidays by providing them with a box of delicious HOME BAKED cookies. Please help us make the staff feel special by baking 3 DOZEN of your favorite cookie. Cookies will be collected, packaged, and delivered to each staff member the morning of Friday, December 13. Volunteers will be out in the carpool lane on that morning to collect your baked goods. Click here to sign up! ![]() Election Results The election is over and Jessica Hembree, a Trailwood parent, will be our new Shawnee Mission South area representative on the Board of Education starting in January. Remember that every year is an election year, so we will vote again next year for Kansas House, Kansas Senate, US Congress, US Senate, President and other offices. We anticipate that every district will have a competitive election next year. Meet Your School Board - Jan. 14 Three Trailwood area members of the Board of Education will join us for our next evening PTA meeting, January 14 at 7pm. Come meet Heather Ousley (At-Large), Mary Sinclair (East area) and Jessica Hembree (South area). Please send any questions for the board members joining us to Melissa.cheatham@gmail.com by January 10th” so they will be ready to discuss your questions and concerns about the board's work. SMSD Legislative Platform SMSD has adopted its legislative platform for the year. The district will be advocating in Topeka for suitable financing for public schools; support for the social-emotional growth of students, along with their physical well-being; Support for Rigorous Academic Standards for All Student; and against policies that divert public resources to non-public entities. Read it for yourself! ![]() Can you believe that the 2020 Trailwood auction, our school's biggest fundraiser, is right around the corner? The date is set for February 8th at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center, and we couldn't be more excited! For years, our auction sponsors have played a big role in making this event a huge success, and we’d love to have your family or place of business join us as a sponsor this year! Being an auction sponsor is a win-win! Your company gets awesome recognition before, during and after the auction, and our school receives important funding for field trips, teacher stipends and so much more! We have different levels of sponsorship, so hopefully there is something that fits your interests. Please see the attached Sponsorship Levels sheet for additional information. Do you know of an organization in our community that might be interested in this opportunity? Please feel free to pass along this information. Or, let us know, and we will reach out to them! Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Please let Cara or Victoria know if you have any questions. Cara Peterson (caraelizabeth1@yahoo.com) Victoria Savich (savich13@yahoo.com)
![]() The auction will be here soon. Hopefully your calendars are marked for Saturday, February 8th. Our theme will be 80’s, and the auction will be held at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center. One of the bigger donations for our PTA are the spring/summer parties which are hosted by our amazing Trailwood parents. Thank you all to the parents who have volunteered to do a spring grade party. We are still looking for the following grades for help. Remember you can cohost to share the expenses.
