Monday, May 6th: Something Pretty Bring a flower from the PTA Flower sale, store or from your garden Tuesday, May 7th: Something from Sonic: Sonic day for Teachers and Staff! Sonic will be providing favorite beverages for our Staff. Thank you Sonic for your support! We still need two volunteers to be “school hops” to deliver the drinks in the afternoon. Wednesday, May 8th: Something Sweet Ideas: Candy bar, homemade treat, soda, piece of fruit, popcorn, gum/mints, etc. We also encourage you to bring a “sweet” thank you note from home. Thursday, May 9th: Something She’ll Love Ideas: Nail Polish, pens, a hand drawn picture, candle, lotion, gift card, supplies for the next school year, etc. Friday, May 10th : Everyone deserves a break on this day. The PTA will be showering our staff with cookies. “Thank you for helping our kiddos to be such smart cookies this year!”  At the April PTA meeting, the general membership approved the purchase of 2 elm trees to help shade the playground! Thanks to the generous support of our parents we had sufficient operating capital from the auction to fund such a fantastic purchase. The District is expecting to have the trees planted soon and both trees will be located at the south edges of the playground. In addition, Joan Leavens from the District will be attending our May 7 PTA meeting to discuss grounds questions.  We would love for you to consider joining one of the following committees to make the 2019-2020 school year the best yet! The bill adds new funding to account for inflation and when combined with the funding that was approved last year, SMSD is expected to receive an additional $9.8 million. The state supreme court must still rule on whether the new funding plan is constitutional. All our Trailwood area legislators voted in favor of the bill - please thank them!  Election Year This is an election year for SMSD. Our South-area seat and one At-Large seat are both on the ballot this year. Our current South-area representative, Deb Zila, is not running again. Brian Brown is the only individual who has announced for that seat; Brad Stratton has filed for re-election to the at-large seat. Additional candidates can file until June 1. Raider Wrestling Club 2019 Summer Camp Registration Form Every Tuesday Night in June & July – SMS Wrestling Room 6-7PM – K – 4th Grade 7-8:30PM – 5th – 8th Grade Get ready for the middle school and up-coming club seasons. Recommended attire is tee shirt and shorts. Wrestlers provide wrestling shoes & headgear (mouth guard required for athletes with braces). We will have some wrestling shoes to lend for camp.
