Hello, Trailwood! Fall is here and so is the Book Fair! Make sure you come by between November 14th and 17th to check out this year’s selections. The Fair will also be open during the Special Person’s Lunch and the Pancake Breakfast. This a great way to get more books into our homes and into our library! Check out the new schedule for the Special Person’s Lunch this year – we have so many special visitors attending that we need to split it up over two days to accommodate everyone! November 14th will be for students with last names A-M, November 15th will be for students with last names N-Z. Thanks for rolling with us on this. We appreciate the flexibility and support of our parents and staff. Go Thunderbirds! Heather McClure, PTA president hmcclure1436@gmail.com

It's not too late to sign up for this super fun walk/run! Sunday, Nov. 4. Walk off that Halloween candy and raise money for South-area band programs, including Trailwood's! It's a great way to spend a Sunday morning. ![]() Election Day is November 6 and this is a huge election for public education. You'll be voting for Kansas Governor and your representative in the Kansas State House, which allocates state funds to public schools like Trailwood. You'll also be voting for Member of Congress, County Commission and more! The PTA as a nonprofit organization does not endorse candidates, although we encourage you to be as informed as possible. There are several education-focused groups, including Education First Shawnee Mission, Stand Up Blue Valley and the Kansas National Education Association (KNEA), who do endorse candidates that they believe will support public education in Kansas. You can vote early at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center on Friday (10 am-7pm) or Saturday (9am-3pm) or at your polling place on Tuesday. Visit jocoelection.org to find your polling place. Vote, vote, vote! The Rompin' Stompin' Raider Run is a super fun 5k on Nov. 4. And it benefits Trailwood's band program! The 5k is the Shawnee Mission South band’s largest fundraiser and a portion of the proceeds get returned to the South-area elementary and middle schools to buy music and instruments! Runners will be greeted by the SMS band on the course -- and the drum line plays at the finish line. Spread the word! This is a 5k not to be missed!
