SUBJECT: November 2020 PTA Newsletter

November 6, 2020

Hello, Trailwood Community!

November has arrived! In a time of many challenges and in a month where we celebrate thankfulness, it all seems to mean a little more. This strong community is such a gift that I am personally very grateful for. My hope is that you can feel the same way.

There are some amazing things happening this month. From auction planning, to a Ceramic Café event, to the T-Birds Serve Harvesters collection, and a special partnership with Hattie’s Fine Coffee, November is sure to be an exciting time!

Thank you to all who took the time to complete the short survey that was sent out last month. To hear results of that survey, an update from Mr. Lawrence, and more specifics on what our amazing PTA is busy with, please join us for our general meeting Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm. You can find the link to that Zoom meeting below.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

We love our teachers and to show them our appreciation, we showered them with handwritten and heartfelt thank you notes. Many thanks to all of the parents and students that made notes to share with the staff.  They felt very loved!
We also gave them goodies in the lounge on Halloween, because what better way to show some love than with a yummy treat?!

Introducing 2020 Holiday Gift Sets, featuring Hattie's Coffee!

What better way to spread holiday cheer than with our very own Trailwood blend of Hattie's coffee?  Hattie's Coffee has come up with a delicious Trailwood whole bean medium roast blend to appease all coffee drinkers alike.  There are three options to choose from to fit your needs:

  • 16oz Bag of Whole Bean Trailwood Hattie's Roast
  • 16oz of Whole Bean Trailwood Hattie's Roast + Custom TW Stainless Hot/Cold Tumbler
  • Not a coffee drinker?  No problem... purchase your TW Stainless Hot/Cold Tumbler and hold the coffee

Proceeds help to raise funds for vital mini grants, children's activities, flight times, etc.

Purchase your coffee and/or tumbler by Nov. 16 here:

T-Birds Serve/Harvesters Food Box Drive

November 9th-19th

This year, T-Birds Serve is not able to offer our group hands-on community service projects, but we're looking for ways to help your family give back during this crazy time!

Pack to Give Back - Harvesters Holiday Boxes
Many holiday memories are made around a festive meal. However, this year for more than 387,000 people in the 26-county service area that Harvesters serves, a festive meal and tableside memories are not certain.

Over the next two weeks, we are asking the Trailwood community to provide Holiday Boxes for Harvesters.  Shop as a family (or do grocery pickup!) and print out the "Packed By" cards and leave a special note in your 'box'.  Or you can just decorate a card!  Please donate the entire contents (it's about $10) for the box in a tied plastic bag.  The finished bag can be dropped in the Harvesters bin located in the front vestibule by the main office at Trailwood.  Bags are due back to Trailwood by Nov. 19!

Each holiday bag should include the following items:
- 1 Package Stuffing Mix
- 1 15 oz Can Sweet Potatoes
- 1 14 oz Can Cranberry Sauce
- 1 15.25 oz Can Corn
- 2 14.5 oz Cans Green Beans
- 1 Package Gravy Mix
- 1 Package Corn Bread Mix
- 1 Package Instant Mashed Potatoes
- 1 10.5 oz Can Cream of Mushroom Soup

Not able to shop?  That's OK!  Donate $10 and we will do the shopping for you.  Drop off cash with Shereen or Venmo at www.venmo.com/Kim-Whitman-5.

Any questions? Please contact Kim Whitman at kimberlydwhitman@hotmail.com or 816-260-6459.

Please continue to upload photos to the yearbook link: plicbooks.com/go/krYpg or email your photos to Vivian Hamilton at vivian@outlookcreative.com and Heidi Erenberg at heids07@gmail.com. We know that everyone has great multiple "First Days" (first day remote, first day hybrid, first day full-time) photos and other fun photos with sports, friends, family, neighbors, and Halloween!!! We want it ALL!!!

Thank you kindly for all your help to make the yearbook as representative of the crazy year we are navigating.
