Meet the trailwood pta Executive Board

President - cara peterson

Trailwood Elementary is such a special place! My family and I have loved being part of this supportive and giving community over the years. We have a 6th grader, a 3rd grader and a Kindergartener! We have truly enjoyed the many opportunities for involvement at the school; Trailwood has something for everyone! We have made so many wonderful memories throughout our time here, and we look forward to many more!

We love Trailwood! Our oldest son began Kindergarten at Trailwood in 2016 and we have been investing and pouring into our Trailwood community ever since. We have five kids, two that are now a Freshman (Macy) and a Sophomore (Taylor) at Shawnee Mission South and three at Trailwood in Fifth grade (Logan) and Second grade (Brandon and Harper). I've enjoyed serving our school over the years but some of my favorites have been, Kindergarten Round Up Chair, Teacher/Staff Appreciation and Corresponding Secretary.

Lindsay has two kids, Brynn (6th grade) and Ryder (2nd grade), and her family has been invested in the Trailwood community since 2016. This is her first time being on the PTA executive board but she has been involved with various TWE activities and events before. Professionally she has experience as a social worker navigating crisis interventions with teens. She also volunteers with an international nonprofit, I Support The Girls and collects and distributes basic need items for the KC community. Lindsay and her family are very excited for this 2022 school year. Let’s go Thunderbirds!

This is my second year serving on the PTA Executive Board. I have been a Room Parent as well as helped with the Book Fair. We have Henry, a fourth grader in Mrs. Dennis's class and Cady, a second grader in Mrs. Rawlston's class. Professionally, I am a Nurse Practitioner and have worked at Children’s Mercy for the past 16 years. We are so excited to be at Trailwood!

Born and raised in Overland Park, my husband and I both attended Indian Woods and graduated from Shawnee Mission South. It has been such a privilege to serve on Exec Board as Corresponding Secretary, Ways and Means, and President. The strong sense of community has been overwhelmingly amazing the seven years we have been here at Trailwood. Our oldest, Carter, has moved on to Indian Woods, and our daughter Marlee is in 6th grade. We are so thankful to be a part of the Trailwood family!
