Meet the 2026-27 trailwood pta Executive Board

president - Sarah McGinnity

We're in our 7th year of Trailwood with many, many more to go! We have Henry (10th), Clark (7th), Lucy (5th) and Caroline (preschool). We love the Trailwood community and try to support our teachers, staff, and kids as much as we can! I have owned Kansas City Mom Collective for 15 years, a multimedia company with resources and community for KC parents. Our family loves to travel, cheer for K-State football, explore Kansas City, and play board games.

PRESIDENT ELECT - emily meissen-sebelius

It is my first year on the PTA's exec board as Membership chair, and my 8th year at Trailwood, with Ella (8th), William (4th) and Madison (1st). Our family has loved how many opportunities the PTA creates for us to connect and engage with others. I have been involved in everything from Senioritas and Sangrias to the T-Bird Trot to Progressive Dinner, some of my favorite TW PTA events!  Our family loves spending time outdoors, traveling, and cheering each other on, in our various sports and activities!

I’m excited to serve as Treasurer this year (as much as one can be excited about spreadsheets)! My husband, Austin, and I have three kids—Reid (5th grade), Adrienne (7th grade), and Sadie (9th grade)—so this marks my 9th year at Trailwood. I’ve loved helping with events like the T-Bird Trot, Señoritas & Sangrias, and the Progressive Dinner. Last year, I chaired Reflections and Citizenship and served as Treasurer-Elect. Outside of PTA, I’ve worked as a clinical dietitian, in clinical research, and as a fitness instructor. I’m looking forward to another great year at Trailwood!

This is our family’s third year at Trailwood (our school journey here actually started in the incredible Pre-K program), and we just love the community this school cultivates. My husband, Steve, and I have one son, Marty, who is now in 1st grade.

Growing up with an elementary school teacher for a mom, I’ve always understood the heart teachers pour into their classrooms and how deeply being involved in a child's education shapes their world. So I am very excited to serve as the Corresponding Secretary on the PTA Executive Board this year! Having spent the last couple of years volunteering as a room parent and helping out across multiple school events, I'm looking forward to helping keep our community connected and classrooms supported this year.

Professionally, I work as an air and climate consultant at Ramboll and as an adjunct lecturer for the Environmental Studies PSM program at KU. Outside of work and Trailwood, you’ll likely find me hiking and exploring the outdoors with my family, practicing yoga, hitting a 6am spin class, or out walking our boxers.

recording secretary - kelli luce

I’m excited to join the Trailwood PTA Executive Board as a first-year member! My husband, Lauren, and I have two children: Finley, a second grader in Mrs. Seamon's class, and Ford, who turned two last summer. Volunteering at Trailwood has been such a rewarding way to connect with other families and support our school community. I’ve had the opportunity to help in the classroom, lead our spirit wear initiative, and assist with carnival coordination. I’m looking forward to continuing to contribute and grow with this amazing team!

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - jessica horner

This is my second year serving on the Executive Board at Trailwood, and it is my family’s eighth year as Thunderbirds! My kids are Abe (7th grade at Indian Woods), Ellis (5th grade), and Hazel (2nd grade). Trailwood has been such a welcoming community for us, and I hope that in my role I can assist the teachers, staff, and PTA board members in providing that same experience to all our Trailwood families! Professionally, I work as the Elementary Coordinator for Christ Church Anglican. I also squeeze in professional flute/piccolo gigs and music teaching opportunities when time allows! You are most likely to find my family reading, playing music, cooking, or cheering at a baseball game!
