welcome, thunderbirds!

Our PTA is a dedicated group of parents, teachers, and administrators who work together to provide resources and programs to all families in our school community.
The PTA supports the quality of education at Trailwood Elementary with strategic investments in curriculum materials, enrichment and instructional programs, and general support of our community that directly enhance the school's mission of excellence for all Trailwood students.
Welcome to Trailwood PTA!

Welcome, Thunderbird families!
The 2025 - 2026 school year has arrived! Your PTA is excited to plan some amazing events, activities and programs this year, and we can't wait to see you very soon.
Questions about the PTA? Please feel free to reach out to PTA President, Cher Brownback!
MEMBERSHIP and yearbook sales happening now

Now is the time to purchase a PTA membership and support the work of our PTA!
Becoming a member does not obligate you to attend meetings or volunteer (although, we’d love to have you!). Your support allows us to provide our students, staff and families with a variety of fun and educational opportunities here at Trailwood!
You are also able to purchase your child’s yearbook and pay their yearly activity fee at this time. Yearbooks are a fantastic way for kids to reminisce on all the fun they had at Trailwood Elementary and will be delivered at the end of the year.
Please direct any questions to Emily Meissen-Sebelius.

annual memorial blood drive

We’d love for you to join us for our fourth annual Trailwood community blood drive in honor of one of our own, Moira Aaron-Castillo. Moira courageously battled neuroendocrine (NET) cancer for 3 years. November is NET cancer awareness month and Moira, like many patients facing NET cancer, needed frequent blood transfusions during her treatment.
We honor her by hosting this annual Trailwood community blood drive in the gym on November 22nd from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and continue her legacy of courageously giving what we have with the time we’re given. Walk ins will be welcome but to help plan staffing it’s helpful to schedule your donation.
Please sign up to donate at the link below.

Thunderbird parents and guardians, please save the date for our annual Trailwood auction on Saturday, February 26th, 2026 at Indian Hills Country Club! More details will be shared in the coming weeks, but you won't want to miss this Roaring 20's themed event that helps fund over 50 programs and activities at Trailwood Elementary!
We have many sponsorship opportunities available for this event. Please contact Jennifer Clipp, if interested.
Want to join the committee? Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or have never volunteered at Trailwood, we would love to have you! Please contact Jennifer Clipp about available volunteer roles.
Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

Whether you can help a little or a lot, we’d love to have you as a cafeteria volunteer this school year! Your time commitment is only one hour, but it makes a huge difference for our students and staff. Responsibilities include opening drinks and food packages and assisting our lunchroom aides.
Together, we can create a positive mealtime experience for all! Sign up at the link below!
dining partners

Dining partner events are amazing ways to support Trailwood while also enjoying some delicious food and supporting our community partners.
Do you know of a business that would be interested in learning more about the dining partners program? Please reach out to Cher Brownback, if so!
And, be sure to check out the information below for details on other great ways to give back!

donate to the pta

Want to further support the work of your Trailwood PTA? Check back at the beginning of the school year for a link to make a donation of your choosing!
Donations to the PTA help us to fulfill our mission of providing resources and programs to all members of the Trailwood community.
Thank you for your generosity!
Volunteer as a wingman
Calling all Trailwood dads and father figures!
Please consider taking a half-day or full-day out of your busy schedules and spending some time at Trailwood as a Wingman! This is a great opportunity to interact with the kids and see what they do every day! Your schedule will vary depending on the needs of the day and will include all grade levels, assisting with math and reading groups, specials, recess and lunchroom assistance for the younger grades.
Volunteers can choose the dates and times (half-days or full-days) and can float between classrooms.
While you don't have to be trained as an MVP to volunteer in this capacity, we do recommend it so that you will be able to work with students on your own. Click here for more information on the MVP program and on future training dates that you can attend.
Use the link below to sign up for a date that works for you!
Please contact Leif Peterson with any questions.
become an mvp and make a difference

We hope you'll consider becoming an MVP next school year! This designation is given to adult volunteers in SMSD who would like the opportunity to work with/supervise kids on their own. These relationships are positively powerful for the child (and the adult), and we can always use people to serve in this role!
For more information on the MVP program and alternative training dates, please use the link below. Please contact social worker Brenna Sandefur-Farrar if you have any additional questions.
2025 - 2026 PTA MEETINGs

We hope you'll join us for our next PTA meeting of the 2025 - 2026 school year on Thursday, November 13th, at 8:15 am in the Band Room.
Please come with your questions about everything Trailwood. Our monthly meetings are great opportunities to get to know each other and find out more about our fabulous community! Everyone is invited to attend! Children are always welcome!
We hope to see you there!
