welcome Back, thunderbirds!

Our PTA is a dedicated group of parents, teachers, and administrators who work together to provide resources and programs to all families in our school community.

The PTA supports the quality of education at Trailwood Elementary with strategic investments in curriculum materials, enrichment and instructional programs, and general support of our community that directly enhance the school's mission of excellence for all Trailwood students.

1st annual thunderbird bowl-O-rama

Join the Trailwood community on October 28th as we go "bowling for BOOks" at our first annual family Trailwood Thunderbird Bowl-O-Rama!
The fun begins at Ward Parkway Lanes at 6:00 pm! We'll have food, prizes, awards, a costume contest, music, and the chance to bowl with our very own Mr. Lawrence!
Proceeds will ensure that every child receives some special books at the spring book fair!
Tickets are limited, so order yours today! Not a bowler? Already have plans? Consider being a sponsor! Purchase your tickets and sponsorships at the link below.

chat and chew is back

Chat and Chew is back this year! Chat and Chew is like a book club for kids 2nd through 6th grade. Students who choose to participate will meet with an adult volunteer (often a parent or grandparent) to discuss the book over lunch.

If your child is interested in participating or if you would like to lead a group of readers, please see the SignUp Genius sent to you by Mrs. North!

walk to school day

The weather is cooling down, and Wednesday, October 5th, should be a perfect day for everyone to walk to school! Join us on the blacktop from 7:45 am - 8:10 am! Students can grab a fun breakfast snack and a photo with one of their favorite South area mascots! We will take a large group photo around 8:00 am.

Hope to see you there!

pta memberships now on sale

We hope you'll consider purchasing a PTA membership for the 2022-2023 school year! Becoming a member helps us in our efforts to support the students, families, teachers and staff of Trailwood Elementary! Becoming a member doesn't obligate you to attend meetings or volunteer your time (although, we'd love to have you join us at all of our events)! You can be as involved as you'd like!

Memberships are $10 each and may be purchased using the link below. While there, you can also pay for your child's yearbook and yearly activity fee. Thank you for your support of Trailwood Elementary!

become a wingman

As we kick off another school year at Trailwood, we're looking to refresh our roster of dads and father-figures to be part of our Wingman program! The group has completed numerous projects over the last few years including the ga-ga ball pit, picnic tables and a few others.

And, this year, we are excited to bring the Wingman program back to the classroom! Please consider taking a half-day or full-day out of your busy schedules and spending some time at Trailwood. This is a great opportunity to interact with the kids and see what they do every day! The schedule will vary depending on the needs of the day, but you can plan on spending a portion of your day with your kiddos (including lunch) but you may also be helping with other parts of the school, such as recess or specials.

Check your email for the Sign-Up Genius, and feel free to sign up whenever your schedule allows.

If you would like more information, please contact Eric Foreman.

become an mvp and make a difference

As volunteers head back to the classrooms this fall, please consider becoming an MVP! This designation is given to adult volunteers in SMSD who would like the opportunity to work with/supervise kids on their own. These relationships are positively powerful for the child (and the adult), and we can always use people to serve in this role!

For more information on the MVP program and training dates, please use the link below. Or, please join us at Trailwood for an MVP training on September 9th from 8:30 - 9:30 and again from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the Commons. Please contact social worker Brenna Sandefur-Farrar if you have any additional questions.

Everyone is welcome to join us at our monthly PTA meetings! Meet us in the Trailwood cafeteria on Tuesday, October 11th. Learn more about the PTA, get to know other Trailwood parents and receive the latest updates from Mr. Lawrence.

We hope to see you there!

Now is the perfect time to make sure your contact information is up-to-date! Keeping your directory account updated ensures that you receive important PTA information throughout the year and helps you to connect with other Trailwood families. Not sure how to do this? Just click on the link below for instructions!
